Armed with a blend of leadership and business skills, Don is uniquely positioned by both experience and talent to provide mentoring and coaching services to CEOs, business owners, and executive directors. With more than 35 years experience in both small and large ventures, Don brings a rich business background to his work. He has senior executive experience working in both manufacturing and high-tech environments, from engineering design to manufacturing planning to marketing / sales and strategic planning. Don has also been trained by Leadership Management International as a Certified Facilitator & Coach.
Experience from Start-up to Hewlett Packard
Don had the good fortune of moving up the management ladder at Hewlett Packard during the '80s. Don became exposed to and learned "the HP Way" first-hand; not only what it meant when performing as an individual contributor, but how to maximize organizational performance as a manager. He became an internal facilitator of the HP strategic planning process, working with various HP Divisions to develop & implement plans for continued growth & market dominance.
Recruited away from HP by a $60M San Diego company, Don was the leader in growing the $12M core product division to $18M via international expansion & new product development; then to $40M via acquisition. This company was then acquired by a $125M NCR spin-off, and Don was the sole marketing / sales executive kept on by the acquiring company. His last contribution prior to starting his own business was moving the San Diego divisions' manufacturing operation from Tijuana to mainland China in 2002.
Don started his own company, Strategic Results Group, in 2003. This company is focused on helping its client companies "accelerate business plan execution". Don not only learned the value of developing a strategy for creating a sustainable competitive advantage using the HP process, but the importance of discipline, accountability and effective management & leadership in executing the plan. Along with his partners & associates, Don brings these growth processes to the small to mid-size organization.
